Storyboard


Creating my storyboard was an enjoyable, yet creatively challenging for me. I am not an artistic person which made the process of drawing it very challenging. Despite this, I roughly knew a general concept of what I wanted. I really enjoyed the concept of my storyboard watching it slowly form and the process that I went through to figure out what exactly I wanted where. The Storyboard your way to success stated that the intricate details in magazines are very important in the creative process and in making your magazine/film unique to yourself (1). I learned this through creating the storyboard for my magazine project. The challenging part for me was figuring this out for myself. It was also an experience to discover how the mise-en-scene I was attempting to portray would appear on the magazine. Creating this storyboard was very beneficial for me considering I had a general idea of what I wanted, but I was unsure of the placement. Considering I am a visual learner, mapping out the magazine via a storyboard helped me in significant ways that a description or script rather wouldn’t. In the article, Filmmaking across the curriculum they mentioned the significance of organization and preparation for large personal projects (2). The storyboard acted as one of those significant tools for me that not only allowed me to stay organized, but it would also be a great reference in the future. The difference between my script and my storyboard was significant. My concept became more defined and well rounded after my storyboarding.

Peer Review

     The feedback I received was very beneficial to me, and I feel great about continuing my project. The cover was the most work-intense section of the magazine and the one that received the most feedback. One of the main features, inspired by Sports Illustrated, was the title appearing offset to the three athletes on the cover. I got a mixed feedback, some saying that the idea was very unique, and it made the athletes stand out making them significant; while others said they had a little difficulty in reading the word “Introspect” because one of the athletes was covering the end of the word. My colleagues also mentioned that I had room to adjust the title. I’m most likely going to adjust the title so people can read the title more clearly, but also keep the same effect of the athletes appearing in front of the text. Post Production 2- Defining My Product

 I didn't make any significant changes in my magazine because I felt that this truly was the final product. I believe that my magazine carries out its intended purpose of shining light on the locality of athletes in school. I also believe that the magazine will gain traction towards the intended audience of high schoolers. The product itself has been reviewed and edited to my best ability several times.

Post Production 1- Altering Color Coordination and Style

 To edit my magazine, I had a real inconsistency with the layout of my colors from the cover page to the feature article. I maintained a consistent style by changing my color pallet to only two colors instead of a broad variation. I also added a introduction and conclusion to my article that would match the style and add some meaning/organization to my product. This process wasn't too difficult considering I had a layout of all the content I wanted to address.
